She may be new to the world of fine art, but Nicole Viste is no stranger to the western ways. Born in 1986, this self-taught artist is the 4th generation on the family ranch near Hanna, AB. Using pencils, she portrays her deep-rooted passion for ranching and the prairies.
Although she has always drawn, she did not start to take her art seriously until 2009. In her first juried show, The 2009 Western States Horse Expo Equine Dream Art Show(
Sacramento,
CA), she was awarded 2nd place for her drawing “A Loose Cinch and Cold Drink”. Since then, she has had art featured in shows such as the Western Spirit Art Show and
Sale (
Cheyenne,
WY), the Bosque Art Classic (
Cliffton,
TX) and the Calgary Stampede Western Showcase Art Auction.
She has also enjoyed some success with her photography, being a finalist in the 2010 Cowboys & Indians magazine photo contest, as well as having photos in the Calgary Stampede Western Showcase Photo Gallery.
